Jose Mourinho Manchester United's handicapped collection of tools
United will deceive themselves and not many others if they try to apply anything gloss or positive rotation to a terrible spectacle when dismantled by Tottenham at Old Trafford.
This is a difficult time for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho. There is no amount of disguise or window cover that can cover this.
Mourinho is right to say that he is worthy of being a manager who has won three Premier League titles - but the deed at Chelsea will not cut ice with United fans, who live here and now and who receive a very cold shower from their Spurs team will be considered as title holder this season.

In defending Mourinho, this is not a United team that does not play for its manager. Of course they were a better team in the first half, but Lukaku was unable to pay the latter.
However, Mourinho's defense is the biggest problem. It's indeed convex.
He won his reputation as a defense organization amidst glorious victories at Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and then returned to Stamford Bridge.
They are different days and different teams. Mourinho could not lead a defensive approach to his failure as he did at Manchester United.
United were all over the place when Spurs found their rhythm, desperate steps to use midfielder Ander Herrera with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling quickly set when they left.
Mourinho's desire for a central defender was well documented but he did not reflect well on his own purchasing policy which Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly bought for over £ 60m - revealed following their embarrassment at Brighton.
Lindelof appeared as a substitute here but looked like a player who lived in fear and lost faith, almost delivering Dele Alli with a goal and generally finding a shot.
To add an injury to injury, Toby Alderweireld - linked with United this summer - was done powerfully at the Spurs defense center, with one slide in time when he saw several home fans turn to express their feelings for Founding executive representative Ed Woodward when he see it from the directors box.
Mourinho's mood is dark, but that would be a fantasy on an industrial scale if he puts this loss down to the transfer market and the opportunity United does not experience.

And there are other concerns for United.
It's hard to find exactly where Mourinho will join United. What kind of troops are they? What is their style of play? What is their best team? Does Mourinho have the best team?
