Aretha Franklin was 'sick' because the family gathered around QUEEN OF SOUL

Surprises and worries have spread throughout the world in the night music after reports that the great singing of Aretha Franklin's soul was "painful".

Franklin, 76, is reportedly surrounded by his family and close friends in Detroit. The family invites prayer and privacy.

A source who knew Franklin from the start of his career told The Telegraph that Franklin's absence from attention since late last year was "unnatural".

The news was broken by Roger Friedman, a friend of Franklin, at the entertainment site Showbiz411.

"Something happened to his health," the source told The Telegraph. "He missed several public talks in recent months, including the burial of Dennis Edwards, who is one of his lovers.

Edwards, who is a member of The Temptations, inspired Franklin's Day Dreaming. In February, reports said he could not attend the memorial service because he expressed his condolences to the family.

He then canceled the show in March, scheduled for his 76th birthday, another in April and a festival performance in June at the behest of doctors. A statement on Franklin's website said he had "been ordered not to execute in the next few months."

"Aretha works with an album with Stevie Wonder, and has a project where Lionel Richie is," the source said. "Because he hasn't played openly since last year, he's been unhealthy since then."

Franklin's latest appearance was last November, for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York, and he gave a public performance last year in Philadelphia. Such a review described him: "Apart from years of advancement and medical decline, Franklin seems indisputable with sound or enthusiasm, although sometimes his scream feels beyond the limits of his breathing."

His appearance in November came before rumors that Franklin at his death were triggered by a drastic weight loss. The singer responded with an interview in Us Weekly, saying: "I generally do, all tests have recovered well. I have lost a lot of weight due to the side effects of the drug, it affects your weight."

Franklin's reporter and friend, Shaun Robinson, wrote at the time: "I just talked to one of Cik Franklin's family friends at my home in Detroit. They talked to Aretha a while ago and asked me to tell you, don't believe this news. a fine day. "

The singer, most famous for hits such as Respect and I Say Little Doay, canceled the concert in 2010 when recovering from surgery that removed an undetermined tumor and, said Franklin, "added 15 to 20 years for his life".

However, this disease has affected his career in the past decade, with performances being canceled in 2013. Franklin said in August of that year that he had experienced a "miraculous recovery", but continued to release shows. He never revealed the details of his illness, but has talked about a doctor "looking for something on his body" which then disappears.

Franklin's representative had not answered the Telegraph's request to comment.

A former chain smoker who suffered an alcohol attack, Franklin also spoke of the weight of the "balloon", and subsequent weight loss.

Franklin won 18 Grammy awards throughout his career and became the first woman to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He was awarded the Presidential Medal in 2005, and was held at Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009
