Teddy Bridgewater: I don't mind waiting behind Brees

NEW ORLEANS - New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur recently advised the world not to sleep in the quarter-finals of Teddy Bridgewater.

The New Orleans Saints seem to listen and watch before sending 2019 a third round selection to New York Jets instead of Bridgewater and the sixth round of choice.

"He's a brilliant kid - he's not a child anymore - but he has a great football IQ and we like how he plays in preseason," Saints head coach Sean

Bridgewater has traveled since experiencing a career-threatening knee injury in August 2016 with the Minnesota Vikings. In May 2017, the Vikings was selected not to use Bridgewater's fifth year option, the first choice in 2014, making it a free agent in 2018 and he signed an agreement a year, which paid a base salary of $ 5 million, with the Jets in March.

When he was impressed through three preschool games, Bridgewater would not replace Sam Darnold as a beginner in New York. And he found himself in the same situation as the Saints when considering the presence of Drew Brees.

But Bridgewater, who has 28 careers started and made the Pro Bowl in 2015, is happy with the opportunity to absorb the knowledge of the upcoming Hall of Fame and become a member of one of the elite league attack units.

"I have followed this mistake since I was in college and being a part of it now is a wonderful feeling," Bridgewater said late Thursday. "You watch the tape and see numbers and things like that, and you say, 'Well, this is a unique opportunity to be part of something like that.'

"For me, I don't mind waiting, I can learn from one of the best players who have played this game and been in a room with a group of great people. I learned from coach Payton too, so I look forward to that."

The Saints will decide to make Bridgewater after a one-year contract with trade. In addition, Brees signed a two-year contract during the offseason and it brought the team's choice in the second year.

Payton, however, is quick to point out that it's still too early to see the future when it comes to Bridgewater.

"We'll see," Payton said. "We don't have to decide now."

Bridgewater's presence also shook the Suci tribal space, where he joined Brees, Tom Savage, Taysom Hill, and J.T. Barrett, and he joined without spending his training camp with his new team.

But the head coach of Saints is not worried about Bridgewater struggling to take action or how pecking's orders behind Brees will launch before the regular season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fullback Zach Line, who plays with Bridgewater in Minnesota, also does not believe that Bridgewater will have trouble taking mistakes.

"He will only absorb his toy book and absorb his time with Drew like no one else," Line said late Thursday. "We are two years away from a knee injury, it is a gift and he only eats, and you know when he plays."

Meanwhile, Bridgewater can take time to learn the ins and outs of Payton and adapt to new troops.

And giving him an incredible path to a game he likes after suffering a knee injury, it's an ideal scenario for Bridgewater.

"I'm happy because I know there are other opportunities for me here," Bridgewater said. "I'm all about opportunities because I can go to the soccer field, and this is an opportunity for me to continue to grow as a human and as a football player."

Main note from Thursday night match:

- Broad recipient Cameron Meredith, who witnessed certain actions during the training camp and preseason when he returned from ACL injury in 2017, witnessed widespread action against the Los Angeles Rams. He played 39 photos (60 percent) and a total of two arrests for 72 yards and one goal, which came with a 57-page bomb on the right edge.

- Backup midfielder Nate Stupar, who suffered a torn ACL in October 2017, also experienced a lot of action and made most of his 52 collapse (84 percent) with a total of seven trolleys, three bags, interception, weak and graduated recovery maintained.
